Its no secret fishing is one of my favourite past times. To me fishing is a special experience, one that only gets better when shared with others. This is especially true when fishing with family.
So you can image the great times that were had when my Aunt and I decided to head out for a fish last Sunday, August 18, 2013. It had been some time since I had seen my Aunt and fishing, something we both love, was a great excuse to get together.
We took my boat “The Green Machine” out to Collins Lake and were on the water by 8:15am. My first cast was a hit but not solid. Then my aunt throws one right beside the same dock I was pitching and sure enough, WHAM! there was her biggest largemouth she has ever caught, What a way to start the day.
Fishing slowed down and we toured around the lake bit. It was a beautiful day with a slight breeze. Perfect for fishing or boating.
I decided I would take the opportunity to fish a section of the lake I don’t typically hit. When we arrived I was immediately impressed by the weed and lily pad growth. Fishing here would prove to be a good decision.
We pitched the weeds with a variety of tackle and sure enough, BAM. I hooked up with a decent sized Largie to match my aunts.
And his little brother….
And a decent Northern Pike. Which we decided would make a delicious dinner.
Remember, Fishing is not only a great past time but it is also a great way to reconnect with friends and family.
Cheers From the Wild
